About Us...

Hi i'm Claire, Partner to Robert and Mummy to twin boys Harry & Charlie. We live in Nottinghamshire, UK. Myself and Robert have been together for 14 years and met while we were both out drinking in town and drunkenly stumbled into each other (who says romance is dead) The foundations of our relationship were built on drunken nights out, hangovers, Chinese & Indians – not exactly the fairy tale story predicted.

In May 2015 Robert and I embarked on our IVF Journey and were very lucky to fall pregnant with twin boys on out first cycle, and in the January of 2016 Harry & Charlie finally arrived making our family complete. After just 3 short days in hospital we finally got to take our beautiful boys’ home.

We were able to enjoy 5 weeks at home together before Charlie developed Necrotizing Enterocolitis which torn our family apart. Charlie endured multiple operations to save his life and had to remain in hospital for 10 months while he recovered and was stable enough to come home. If you would like to read more about charlie and his journey please visit Charlie's journey page to follow his progress and ongoing treatment.

How it all started...
I started writing a blog back in February 2018, on the second anniversary of Charlie’s illness as a way to capture my thoughts, feelings and emotions with coming to terms Charlie’s long-term disability. My sole purpose for our site & family blog is to raise awareness of the devastating effects of Necrotizing Enterocolitis and how families are affected by this dreadful life-threatening disease. I also aim to share the positives from our life and all of the little details that make up this crazy but amazing journey of ours raising twin boys.
What do I blog about?
The Radford Family Surviving Necrotizing Enterocolitis is a blog documenting our family life in all its glory, the high’s, the low’s and all of the in between. I created an online space to share my experiences, my stories and my life with the two boys, three including Robert. What started as my own little blogging page has quickly turned into a web page that I truly hope one day raises awareness for Necrotizing Enterocolitis, Short Bowel Syndrome, Total Parenteral Nutrition & Gastrostomy Care. I feel so passionate about my site and I hope one day others will do too.
We are a young family, muddling our way through and learning more about life every day and this is why I aim to share those lessons online with you. We are no Pinterest family and all of what you see will not be glamorized, what it will be is real life, as it is through the good, the bad & the outright ugly!!
Our Family…
Claire (Me/Mummy) …

As a Mum to twin boys, life is mostly quite hectic. It's busy, often manic and generally leaves me falling into the sofa in the evening just after the boys go to bed. I can imaggen most parents can relate ;-) My passions and hobbies "when I find the spare time" include, Blogging, drawing, crafts, decorating or improving furniture and old wooden toys I have found on car boots or in the charity shops. I do enjoy gardening and I hope this year the boys will love it as much as I do. I also love taking photos and making videos and generally just exploring (be that via holidays in the UK or just general everyday days out with the boys).
Robert (Daddy)...
Robert is one of those annoying people who really loves to watch movie reviews and gaming clips via YouTube… Whats more annoying is he likes to make others "Me" watch them too and will not rest until you have seen it so he can talk to you about it. He is obsessed with the Marvel Universe and the Star Wars films and loves to build his DVD collection that the boys just love to destroy. When he too finds the time, he likes to play Star craft and is obsessed with his Alienware gaming Laptop that nobody is aloud to touch!
On a more serious note, He's an incredible partner and Daddy to our boys. Robert tries his upmost best to support me and the boys. Since having the boy’s it’s been difficult on Robert too, as he has his own disability we have to work around. Robert has Left side weakness due to a brain hemorrhage when he was just 19 years old. Having this disability makes it hard for Robert to support me with any of the boy’s cares especially Charlies medical needs. We have to make the house is adaptable for both Robert and Charlies needs. Robert is the absolute best partner to me and works extremely hard to support our family, I honestly couldn't have asked for more.
Harry (Twin One)...
Our first born Twin, We are incredibly proud of how Harry has coped with Charlies disability and hospital admissions over the years. It is a credit to my parents who have supported us throughout and cared for him in our absence. Harry is the sweetest, caring and the most laid back lovable little guy. He loves Play group, doing puzzles, watching Andy Prehistoric Adventures, anything to do with The Lion King and playing with his twin brother Charlie in their B. Magical Teepee play tent.
Charlie (Twin Two)...
Our second born of the boys, Charlie is the cheekiest and just so funny little guy, he likes to push boundaries “Sometimes he gets away with it ;-) I mean come on he is on this incredible journey”. Considering what he has been through he amazes all of us each day he is doing remarkably well, he doesn’t let anything faze him. There really isn't a day that goes by where we don't feel proud of Charlie, both boys for that matter have been incredibly strong. He seems to learn something new every day and he amazes us at just how fast he picks new things up considering what he has endured. He loves watching Hey Duggee, Show Me Show Me, playing with Lego, building tower blocks, and playing with his wooden cars and trains. He too loves playing hide and seek with his twin brother Harry in their B. Magical Teepee play tent.  Read More about Charlies journey on his Page....

A person’s own family is, without doubt, the greatest wealth that we will ever possess. Treasure every moment and take the time to ensure that the story you create is one that you will be proud of and look back on with a huge smile.
